Emergency Medical Assistance

Referral to Western Trained Medical Practitioners:

Private JetMD maintains connections to a World Wide Network of prescreened qualified and licensed medical providers that are competent to respond and treat your emergency medical needs while away from home.

Each physician, surgeon, dentist or other medical practitioner is provided through a trusted international partner who selects providers who received traditional western medicine training, adhere to strict policies required to meet qualifications, and speak English fluently.

Referral to Western Accredited Hospital or Medical Clinic:

Regardless of where your emergency occurs, you will be referred to the nearest Accredited Hospital or medical Clinic. The same treatment you would receive in an accredited hospital within the United States can be expected when you are a patient within any of the Hospitals or Medical Clinics referred by Private JetMD.

Every referral will be made to a medical facility accredited by The Joint Commission and Joint Commission International. This ensures that the delivered care, treatment, services, and environment pose no risk to you as the patient.

Medical Case Management and Review:

From the moment you make your first call until your back home recovering, Private JetMD provides complete Medical Case Management and Review directly from our Chief Medical Officer and our own staff of Physicians. Through Medical Case Management we are able to ensure that from Patient Admittance to Discharge, all care provided is to the Western Standard of Medicine.

This involves thorough review of medical records and any decisions made by the treating Physician to provide necessary care. It also includes assistance with Admission and Discharge processes within the treating Hospital or Medical Facility.

Emergency Medical Evacuation:

In the event of serious illness or injury which may not be supported at the nearest Western Accredited Hospital or Medical Clinic, Private JetMD will provide Emergency Medical Evacuation to the closest trauma or specialist Medical Facility, as medically necessary to continue treatment of patient.

Private JetMD will also provide Emergency Medical Evacuation in the event that the medical facility you are taken to for emergency treatment does not have adequate staff that adheres to Western Standard Medical Care.

Medically Supervised Repatriation:

Once a patient has been discharged from the hospital and is past the acute phase of treatment for their emergency medical needs, Private JetMD will arrange for the return of the patient to their home.

Should the Repatriation of the Private JetMD Member require medical supervision or involve the transfer to another Hospital, Medical Facility, Skilled Nursing Facility, or Rehabilitation Center, we will provide certified Medical Escorts who are competent and capable of administering medical care throughout the entire transportation process.

Compassionate Visit to Hospital Bedside:

Hospital visitation is an important aspect of recovery. Should a Member of Private JetMD be expected to remain hospitalized for at least seven consecutive days, we will arrange a Compassionate Visit to your Hospital Bedside.

A Compassionate Visit will include necessary transportation for a single loved one or friend to reach the Hospital or Medical Facility in which you are being cared for. It also includes the return of your loved one or friend prior to or upon your discharge from the Hospital to their local residence.

Return of Minor Children:

Not being able to care for yourself is frightening all in itself but when your suddenly unable to care for your most important responsibility, being away from home is the last place you want to find yourself with a medical emergency. In the event that you are traveling alone with your minor children and the unexpected medical emergency occurs - you can trust Private JetMD to provide immediate care for your children and most importantly get them home safely while you continue to get the treatment you need.

This coverage is also available should you be traveling with minors who are your sole responsibility while abroad, yet may not be your own children.

Return of Traveling Companion:

In most emergency medical instances, you may be accompanied by a single companion throughout the initial transportation and admission to a Western Accredited Hospital or Medical Clinic. Private JetMD will arrange for the return of your traveling companion back to your place of Accommodations while away from home, prior to or once the acute phase of emergency treatment has been completed.

Coverage may also include the return of your traveling companion to their home if appropriate under the medical circumstances. For instance in the event that you are required to stay hospitalized past the date of your planned trip and your traveling companion does not return home prior to your discharge, Private JetMD will arrange for the required transportation.

Prescription Replacement and Refill Assistance:

Nothing like being headed to the Bahamas only to realize you left your heart medication sitting next to the front door. Despite planning on carrying it with you, you now have to worry about all the "what if's" that the doctor warned you about. That is if you are not covered by Private JetMD.

Our members can trust that no matter where they are in the world, Prescription Replacement and Refill Assistance is only a phone call away. The staff of Private JetMD will facilitate the transfer of your prescription to a local Pharmacy and provide you with instructions on where to go and how to proceed with fulfillment of your medications.

Eyeglass Replacement Assistance:

Breaking your glasses, let alone losing them while you're away from home isn't anything you can see coming - but planning ahead for the possibility ensures that when it does both your vacation plans and your vision don't have to suffer!

If you are a Private JetMD Member and are traveling more than 150 miles from home, and need Eyeglass Replacement Assistance we will arrange for your prescription to reach the closest eye doctor competent in providing you with replacement of your glasses.

Repatriation of Remains:

None of us want to consider the possibility of not returning from a vacation - the painful truth is that thousands of travelers die each year while traveling to other countries or simply across state lines.

Motor Vehicles Accidents abroad are the biggest causes for fatalities to tourists. Statistics from the FIA Foundation and The Make Roads Safe Campaign released on World Tourism Day in 2010 estimated that 25,000 people die each year in traffic accidents - this number is expected to triple within the next 20 years. Traffic related deaths are the number one risk to tourists ahead of terrorism, plane crashes and infectious disease.

In the event of death for any reason while traveling more than 150 miles from home, you can count on Private JetMD to arrange for the repatriation of remains including facilitation of embalming or cremation. This includes coverage for the cost required to permit the repatriation of remains.
